Emile Janique joins FAMATECH: your leather seal and bellow manufacturer continues

Industrial leather: a modern and high-performing material for your seals and bellows

Avec l’avènement des polymères, certains industriels ont oublié un matériau qui était auparavant une nécessité technique pour assurer l’étanchéité dynamique de bon nombre de liaisons : le cuir.
Restoration of the Scarabée d'Or: Emile Janique recreates the leather bellows of the Croisière Noire

In October 1924, 8 Citroën vehicles fitted with half-tracks departed on the Croisière Noire, a 20,000 km journey across Africa. Almost 100 years later, we were involved in the authentic restoration of one of these historical vehicles: the Scarabée d'Or. A project that perfectly illustrates what we have been doing since 1893: recreating leather bellows and seals that no one else can manufacture.
Leather fork bellows for BAAK Motocyclettes

BAAK Motocyclettes is a Lyon-based workshop that prepares custom motorcycles for clients worldwide. They only work with premium materials. When they were looking for fork bellows that would hold up technically and match the aesthetic of their machines, they came to us. We manufactured custom leather fork bellows for their Triumph, Moto Guzzi, BMW and Royal Enfield builds.
Emile Janique featured on TV5 Monde: our expertise in manufacturing leather seals and bellows

In 2018, the Tendance XXI programme on TV5 Monde came to film a report in our workshop in Reyrieux, in the Ain. The programme is dedicated to French creativity and to the expertise that transforms its sector. Each week, its journalists travel across France to meet the craftspeople and manufacturers who do something different. They found us. And they spent a day filming our way of working leather, from cutting to shaping, via skiving and hide treatment. The report can be viewed from the 21st minute onwards.
Leather seals for hand pumps: get your pump running again quickly

Every year as summer approaches, the same scenario plays out. You take your hand pump out of the garage, you pump and nothing comes out. Or almost nothing. The pump draws but no longer delivers water correctly. In the vast majority of cases, the problem comes from the dome seals and piston seals that have dried out over winter and are no longer doing their sealing job. We have been manufacturing these leather seals for hand pumps for more than 130 years. It is a simple part that we dispatch quickly.
